In this entry-level course, students will be introduced to the art of leatherworking through learning to make their own pocket-sized field journal cover! In this three hour class, we will explore various types of leather, tools, and leathercrafting techniques, and apply what you learn to create your own leather journal cover from scratch.
This one is for the poets, artists, collectors of memories, and vagabonds. Thoughtfully designed to straddle a minimalist aesthetic and a maximalist capacity, this bite sized journal cover can fit up to four field notes sized notebooks, and features an interior pocket for your various ephemera. It’s made to live with you every day, and will develop a beautiful patina as it ages.
Students can choose from a variety of premium Italian veg tanned leathers, and will be carefully guided by Amano's founder and master craftsman, Adan.
Workshops include all materials & tools, as well as light refreshments, and of course, the final product that you make! No prior experience necessary.
